GRAMMY Museum Summer Session is a five-day non-residential program for students who are currently enrolled in High School in Southern California (grades 9-12).

Summer Session provides novice and intermediate songwriters the resources necessary to build a solid foundation in songwriting. The skills focused on are also beneficial in workforce development across many careers in, and out of music.

Please select a session and complete the online application below. Your application & audition video are due by April 15, 2020 at 11:59pm PST.

Once you complete the initial application form, you will receive an email walking you through the completion of your audition materials. Everyone must submit a short video essay and samples of their work. Details are below in the Audition Requirements section.

This activity is part of a suite of education programs that take place at the GRAMMY Museum L.A. Live throughout the year which also include six-week long After-School Sessions

SESSION ONE

Dates: Monday, June 15, 2020 to Friday, June 19, 2020
Times: From 10:00am – 4:00pm Mon-Thur, and 10:00am – 6:00pm Friday
Where: GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live – 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015

Cost: FREE. Lunch will be provided.

SESSION TWO

Dates: Monday, June 22, 2020 to Friday, June 26, 2020
Times: From 10:00am – 4:00pm Mon-Thur, and 10:00am – 6:00pm Friday
Where: GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live – 800 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015

Cost: FREE. Lunch will be provided.

DIGITAL AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

1.) EVERYONE APPLYING
Submit a short (3-5 minutes or less) video essay explaining what you hope to gain by participating in Summer Session. Here are some other ideas on topics that you can speak about in your video essay:

– Why you want to come to Summer Session
– How you will benefit if accepted
– Some influences in the music industry
– Your short-term goals and how Summer Session can help you accomplish them

2.) SONGWRITERS ONLY:
Submit lyric or lead sheets for 2 songs you’ve written or complete #3 below

3.) SONGWRITERS AND COMPOSERS
Submit audio and/or video recordings of 2 songs you’ve written along with lyric OR lead sheets
