The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Shondaland and welcome Betsy Beers, Alex Patsavas, and Kris Bowers to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater to discuss the music behind the multitude of award-winning shows, including Bridgerton, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder, and more, with a special performance to follow.
ABOUT SHONDALAND

ABOUT KRIS BOWERS
Kris Bowers is an Academy Award® winning filmmaker, Emmy and Grammy nominated composer and pianist. Most recently, he scored the critically acclaimed DreamWorks animated film, THE WILD ROBOT, which stars Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Bill Nighy and Catherine O’Hara. Bowers has earned Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards nominations on behalf of his score. He won his first Academy Award® for Best Documentary Short Film for his most recent film, THE LAST REPAIR SHOP. The Searchlight Pictures and L.A. Times Studio-backed film, which he directed alongside Ben Proudfoot, premiered at Telluride in 2023 and spotlights some of the individuals working at a repair shop in Los Angeles, the last American city to provide freely repaired instruments to its public school students.
In addition to being an accomplished filmmaker, Bowers is known for his thought-provoking playing style, creating genre-defying film compositions that pay homage to his classical and jazz roots. He has composed music for film, television, documentaries and video games. He has collaborated with musicians and artists across genres, including Kobe Bryant, Mahershala Ali, Justin Simien, Ava DuVernay and Shonda Rhimes. His work can also be heard in recent films like the box office hit Paramount biopic, BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE, DuVernay’s ORIGIN, Warner Bros.’ THE COLOR PURPLE and acclaimed television series such as BRIDGERTON, SECRET INVASION, MRS. AMERICA and WHEN THEY SEE US. He also won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for his work in THE SNOWY DAY.
ABOUT ALEXANDRA PATSAVAS
Alexandra Patsavas leads Music Creative/Production for Netflix Original Series where she oversees creative music services and production strategy for series content, manages talent hires in the music space and fosters partnerships between the studio, producers and the music industry.
Prior to joining Netflix’s Music Department, Alexandra founded Chop Shop Music Supervision company in 1998, and has supervised well over 100 projects and produced dozens of soundtracks over the last two decades. Her series and feature credits include: Queen Charlotte, Bridgerton S1, Coda, Scandal, The O.C., Gossip Girl, Riverdale, Rescue Me, Without A Trace, Mad Men, Supernatural, Chuck, Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, Lucifer, The Twilight Saga (all five films), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Perks of Being A Wallflower, Warm Bodies and Moxie.
She has earned many accolades over the course of her career including Billboard Magazine’s “Power 100 Executives” and “Top Women in Music”, LA TImes “West 100” and Advertising Age’s “Entertainment Marketer of The Year”. Patsavas has been profiled in Cosmopolitan, Wired, The New York Times, Financial Times, The Los Angeles Times, Elle and interviewed on CNBC and MTV.
ABOUT BETSY BEERS
Betsy Beers is a groundbreaking producer and the longtime producing partner of Shonda Rhimes. Under the Shondaland banner, they have developed and produced some of the most industry-leading series in television. Through Shondaland’s unprecedented exclusive deal with Netflix, Beers serves as executive producer on “Bridgerton,” one of the most watched series debut in Netflix history, “Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” following legendary choreographer Debbie Allen, “Inventing Anna” inspired by the story of Anna Delvey and “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” which debuted at No.1 on Netflix’s English TV List and in the Top 10 in 91 countries.
