In conjunction with the Americana Music Association & 88.5FM KCSN, Sponsored by Amoeba MusicIndependent, authentic and original, GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Shelby Lynne inhabits the same space in American music shaped by such like-minded musical renegades as Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Bobbie Gentry, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash. Before garnering Best New Artist honors at the 43rd Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2001, the Alabama native released a number of albums, including her 1989 debut Sunrise, 1993’s Temptation, 2008’s Just A Little Lovin’ (her stellar tribute to Dusty Springfield) and her breakthrough I Am Shelby Lynne in 2000. In 2010 she launched her own indie label Everso Records and released four albums, including 2011’s Revelation Road. On May 4 Lynne will release her 13th full-length album, I Can’t Imagine. Featuring 10 songs written or co-written by the vocalist — including the title track, which premiered on RollingStone.com in February — the highly anticipated album reflects a panoply of Lynne’s influences, from Southern soul, Crescent City R&B and California country and western, to the ardent social consciousness of artists such as Woody Guthrie. Lynne is set to perform both the new collection and her landmark album I Am Shelby Lynne live in their entirety in a special nationwide concert tour that’s set to begin in Boston on May 7. Ahead of her tour, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes Lynne to the Clive Davis Theater as part of the Americana Series for an intimate performance and discussion surrounding her career and new album, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation.
