The Drop: Rich Robinson

Before Rich Robinson made it official in 2015 that The Black Crowes, which he and his brother Chris had founded some 25 years ago, were calling it quits, he had already been issuing his own projects for more than a decade. On his own, Robinson explored and nurtured his talents as a songwriter, guitarist and lead vocalist. This led Robinson to his next milestone — signing in November to Eagle Rock Entertainment. Throughout 2016, Eagle Rock has released expanded, reimagined versions of Robinson’s solo albums, including Paper, Llama Blues, Through a Crooked Sun, and Woodstock Sessions, and Record Store Day exclusives of “Oh! Sweet Nuthin'” and “Got To Get Better In A Little While.” These reissues served as a fitting lead-up to Flux. Released on June 24, Flux is Robinson’s most accomplished solo album to date, featuring 13 new songs that draw deeply on his diverse roots and showcases a rich variety of tempos, tones, and guitar tuning, ranging from the vibrant swagger Robinson first popularized with the Black Crowes to the rich, evocative allure evident in songs such as “Sleepwalker” and “Ides of Nowhere.” Additionally, Robinson joined Paul Rodgers and Bad Company on several legs of their North American tour, and collaborated with Zac Brown on his new album. Currently in the midst of a North American tour, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes the Rich Robinson to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation surrounding his new album and a special performance, hosted by singer/songwriter and music journalist Paul Zollo.
