After The Beatles stopped touring, the band increasingly made what could be described as “mini movies.” These pioneering promotional films and videos helped define the way we have come to watch music. Showcasing the band’s film work to accompany their 27 No.1 U.K. and U.S. singles, The Beatles’ 1 is newly restored and expanded in multiple configurations, and set for global release on Nov. 6 by Apple Corps Ltd./UMG. The 27-track 1 CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray pairs beautifully restored videos for each song with new stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround audio mixes produced from the original masters by Giles Martin with Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios. The brand new Beatles 1+ (Deluxe Edition) celebrates the band’s career in over 200 minutes through 50 promotional films and videos. Presented in a 124-page hardbound book, The Beatles’ 1+ (Deluxe Edition) CD/2DVD and CD/2Blu-ray packages include the 1 collection’s 27 No.1 hits and restored videos, plus a second disc of 23 restored videos, including alternate versions and other rarely seen films and videos, all of which also feature new stereo and surround audio mixes. On Tuesday, Nov. 10, GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli will host an intimate conversation with Giles Martin and Let It Be director Michael Lindsay-Hogg to showcase and discuss some of the new 1 and 1+ collections’ videos, Lindsay-Hogg’s work with The Beatles, including several promo films restored for the new collections, and Martin’s new stereo and surround audio mixes.
