Born in Philadelphia, Joshua Keith Ostrander, better known by his stage name, Mondo Cozmo, has gained quite the following since the release of his massively successful single, “Shine.” The track skyrocketed to the No. 1 spot on AAA Radio as well as the Adult Alternative Song chart, on which it spent 20 weeks. Mondo Cozmo has gained praise from Entertainment Weekly, Consequence of Sound and NPR, where “Shine” was chosen as one of the “Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing In 2016.” Mondo Cozmo’s debut album, Plastic Soul (set for release Aug. 4), includes his current single “Automatic” and is a culmination of everything he’s done so far, demonstrating his punk roots as well as showing hints of pop and featuring lyrics that are very expressive of his personal life. Plastic Soul, which he made in a small house in Joshua Tree National Park, is a very personal project for him. With the help of his dog, Cozmo, he churned out the album in two weeks. Since Ostrander became Mondo Cozmo, the artist has received millions of streams on Spotify and has sold out every concert he has headlined, including shows in Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia. He recently performed 10 shows at this year’s SXSW festival, is confirmed for (almost) every single major music festival this summer, including Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Austin City Limits, Voodoo Fest, Sasquatch, Boston Calling, Summerfest and more. This year alone he opened for Bastille on their arena tour, performed with Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons, opened for Muse, and this fall he continues his non-stop touring schedule with his first headlining tour and select dates with Spoon. Mondo Cozmo’s incredibly quick rise to the top is one you rarely see in the music industry, and he is quickly becoming one of the hottest artists in Los Angeles where he currently resides. Earlier this year, Mondo Cozmo made his television debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where he performed two songs, putting on an electrifying performance backed by a live choir. Despite Mondo Cozmo’s recent breakthrough into the spotlight, he is determined to stick to his roots. Recognized for his punk style, both in and out of the recording studio, Mondo Cozmo’s music can be characterized by his funky upbeat sounds and a soulful voice that’s incredibly easy to listen to. The GRAMMY Museum is excited to welcome Mondo Cozmo to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on his rise to fame, followed by a live performance. Join Executive Director of the GRAMMY Museum, Scott Goldman, in welcoming Mondo Cozmo.
