My Wild West is the third studio album from folk-rock singer/songwriter Lissie, and her most personal one to date. Released on Feb. 12 to outstanding reviews, the album is a fitting tribute to the artist’s life in California, form her arrival as a fresh-faced singer/songwriter to now, having left the West Coast for the Midwest wider and more self-assured. Bookended by the songs “Hollywood” and “Ojai,” the album brings out the two extremes of the past decade — the ups and downs of the former and the “stability, joy and peace” of the latter. My Wild West represents both a new beginning and a return to Lissie’s Midwestern roots, complete with tales of triumph and self-propelled adventure. The song “Sun Keeps Risin” was inspired by Lissie’s aunt, who passed away from ALS, while “Daughters” is a pro-feminist call-to-arms that took its cue from Liberian peace activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee. My Wild West, along with Lissie’s two previous albums, 2010’s Catching a Tiger and 2013’s Back to Forever, scored in the Top 20 on the UK charts and Top 10 in Norway. Stateside, My Wild West hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, No. 5 on the Folk chart, No. 1 on the Independent chart, and No. 13 on the Alternative chart. With a career that has seen her open for renowned artists from Lenny Kravitz (an early supporter) to Tom Petty, Lissie has had a wealth of incredible experiences that have made her the confident and determined artist she is today. The GRAMMY Museum welcomes Lissie to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on her new album and rising career, hosted by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. The discussion will be followed by a performance.
