Critically acclaimed Italian tenor vocal trio Il Volo — comprising Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble — are one of the biggest names in classical crossover pop worldwide. The trio formed in 2009 after appearing individually on the reality singing show “Ti Lascio una Canzone,” which they won. They quickly gained popularity in Europe and were featured on Quincy Jones’ charity single “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti.” Their self-titled debut album was released in 2011 and charted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 featuring a mix of standards, classic Italian songs, and material penned by contemporary songwriters such as Diane Warren. In 2012 they released a live album and their second studio album, We Are Love, and the 2013 holiday-themed Buon Natale: The Christmas Album. Recently, Il Volo won the Big Artist Award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which led them to go triple-platinum in Italy with their latest EP and contributed to their sold-out summer tour. The trio have performed on numerous TV programs in the United States, including “American Idol,” and also appeared on the final episode of HBO’s hit series “Entourage.” At the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2014, the group took home honors for Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year (for Duo or Group). The trio, managed by Michele Torpedine who also discovered and managed Andrea Bocelli for 16 years, released their fifth full-length album this past September. Grande Amore features blend of original songs and classics, and the album charted in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, and the United States. The GRAMMY Museum welcomes Il Volo to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation surrounding their career and latest album, and a performance, hosted by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares.
