Spotlight: A Night with Chappell Roan and Daniel Nigro

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Chappell Roan and producer Daniel Nigro for a special evening moderated by Brandi Carlile. The 200-seat Clive Davis Theater will host a brief intimate performance and discussion around acclaimed debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, their creative process, new music and more. 

ABOUT CHAPPELL ROAN

Chappell Roan has ignited as one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2024. Signed in January 2023 by Amusement/Island Records, Chappell Roan released her debut album The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess last September which most recently jumped to #2 on the Billboard 200.

Chappell’s myriad of highlights range from drawing record-breaking crowds at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and ACL to winning the MTV VMA for “Best New Artist” and hitting to #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 and Top Album Sales Chart for the first time. She also landed her first #1 with “Good Luck, Babe!” on both the Billboard Pop Airplay and Top 40 Mediabase Charts in September 2024. The track also was Chappell’s first-ever Billboard Hot 100 debut, which hit #4 and now has over 1.2 Billion streams. The track has continued to hit new peaks, hitting #1 on Spotify US, #5 on the Global Spotify chart, hit and #2 on the UK Officials Singles Chart. The rest of her catalogue has also continued to climb charts including “Red Wine Supernova, ” “HOT TO GO,” and “Pink Pony Club” all sitting comfortably on the Billboard 100.  

This year, she has received massive amounts of critical acclaim and is cementing pop culture iconic moments such as her Rolling Stone cover and VMA performance, and upcoming SNL debut. Along with her critically acclaimed album and celebrated performances on Colbert, Fallon, and NPR Tiny Desk (who deemed her as an early forerunner for Grammys 2025), she also performed the festival circuit giving larger than life theatrical performances at Coachella, Governor’s Ball and Lollapalooza.

ABOUT DANIEL NIGRO

Daniel Nigro is a critically acclaimed record producer and songwriter based in Los Angeles, by way of Long Island, NY. Nigro has worked closely with artists such as Caroline Polachek, Sky Ferreira, Conan Gray, Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo. He has collected various accolades across his career, including eight Grammy nominations and winning a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for his production of Sour in 2022. Most recently, Daniel was honored alongside co-writer Olivia Rodrigo, as the 2024 ASCAP Pop Music Songwriters of the Year. In 2023, Nigro formed Amusement Records, where he released Chappell Roan’s highly anticipated debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, alongside Island Records. As of October 2024, the album has peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100, with more than 1B streams worldwide, and growing exponentially. Roan’s 2024 follow-up single, “Good Luck, Babe!”, was dubbed by many as the “song of summer” and became one of the most successful Top 40 pop radio singles of the year.

ABOUT BRANDI CARLILE

Brandi Carlile is an 11x GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, performer and producer, 2x EMMY Award-winning composer, lyricist and writer, #1 New York Times Bestselling author and activist, who is known as one of music’s most respected voices. Throughout her acclaimed career, Carlile has released seven studio albums including her most recent, the 3x GRAMMY-winning In These Silent Days. Additionally, Carlilecontinues her work as a renowned producer with recent GRAMMY Award-winning projects from Joni Mitchell and Brandy Clark. She also produced and recorded a rendition of Indigo Girls’ “Closer To Fine” with her wife, Catherine, which was included on Barbie The Album as well as a version of “Home,” which was featured in the final season of Ted Lasso.

Beloved by her peers, Carlile has collaborated with artists such as Elton John, The Highwomen, Soundgarden, Alicia Keys, Hozier, Noah Khan, Jacob Collier, P!nk and Dolly Parton. Carlile was named OUT Magazine’s 2023 “Icon of the Year,” awarded Billboard’s Women In Music “Trailblazer Award,” CMT’s Next Women of Country “Impact Award” and NMPA’s 2023 Songwriter Icon Award and received multiple recognitions from the Americana Music Association. On top of being a musician and writer, Carlile is a founder of the Looking Out Foundation, which has raised over $6 million for grassroots causes to date. Carlile lives in rural Washington state with her wife and two daughters, Evangeline and Elijah.
