Robyn Hitchcock

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Robyn Hitchcock to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on his career and latest music. The evening will be hosted by GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Scott Goldman and will also include a live performance. Surrealist poet, tantalizing guitarist, cult figure, and the musician’s musician, Robyn Hitchcock has had a four-decade career that’s been full of musical experimentation, personal achievements, and entertaining spiritual adventures. First gaining traction in the ‘70s, Hitchcock and his music have spanned decades, experiencing cultural, political, and musical revolutions that not many get to witness firsthand. During his storied career, Hitchcock, a true father figure of alternative rock, founded several groups, including The Soft Boys in the late ‘70s, The Egyptians in the mid-‘80s, and The Venus 3 in the mid-2000s, before returning to his solo career. From political statements to humorous music, Hitchcock is never dull, and neither is his latest album, which is self-titled and was released in April of this year. Working with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Brendan Benson, Hitchcock has produced a vintage yet contemporary psychedelic rock album, which fuses together all the different aspects of his sound that his fans have grown to love. As he’s done for most of his musical career, Hitchcock will continue to spend his time on the road, with his forthcoming run of North American shows kicking off Sept. 2. Through his many years of touring, Hitchcock’s stage presence, legendary imagination, and witty asides continue to amaze, growing his reputation as not only an extraordinary musician, but also as an esteemed raconteur. Robyn Hitchcock was recorded in Nashville (now Hitchcock’s hometown), and features guest appearances by a variety of musicians, including Wilco’s Pat Sansone and singer/songwriter Gillian Welch, among others. His April release marks Hitchcock’s first studio album since 2014’s The Man Upstairs, which received praise from Rolling Stone, The Quietus, Paste Magazine and others. Keeping this momentum going, Robyn Hitchcock is already receiving shining reviews from Rolling Stone, Uncut and many others.
