The Guys Who Wrote ‘Em is the documentary that tells the story of ’60s duo Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, who created the sound of The Monkees, scored hit after hit as songwriters, producers and performers, and inspired a successful youth movement LUV (Let Us Vote) to change the U.S. Constitution.  They were actors, activists, and pop culture icons. The story of their unique partnership is told through historical footage, music clips, photographs, and personal archives — many of which have never been seen before. Directed by Rachel Lichtman and narrated by Bobby Hart, the film features commentary from Tommy Boyce; The Monkees’ Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork; and the late producer Kim Fowley, among others. The film was co-written by Lichtman and Andrew Sandoval. After the screening, Hart and Dolenz will participate in an intimate discussion moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation. Following the discussion, a book signing will be held for Psychedelic Bubble Gum: Boyce & Hart, The Monkees, and Turning Mayhem Into Miracles, Hart’s personal tale as one of America’s leading hit makers that was co-written by Glenn Ballantyne and features a foreword by Dolenz.
