On May 20, 2014, The GRAMMY Museum unveiled Pepe Aguilar…La Leyenda Continúa. Located on the Museum’s third floor, this one-of-a-kind exhibit offers visitors an in-depth look at the iconic career of the most-awarded Regional Mexican artist today, Pepe Aguilar. ON DISPLAY THROUGH JUNE 15, 2015, THE EXHIBIT FEATURES: CHILD CHARRO SUIT AND SADDLE FROM AGUILAR’S DEBUT AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN;NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN EARLY FAMILY PHOTOS AND VIDEO FOOTAGE;AGUILAR’S ECLECTIC GUITAR COLLECTION;HANDWRITTEN LETTERS WRITTEN BY AGUILAR’S FATHER, DON ANTONIO AGUILAR;ORIGINAL CONCERT AND MOVIE POSTERS;ICONIC CHARRO COSTUMES, HATS AND ACCESSORIES;AND MUCH MORE… To speak of Pepe Aguilar as a unique voice and talent is to go back to the history of Mexican music, of which Pepe has been an instrumental part. With more than 13 million albums sold and countless awards throughout his successful career, the accumulation of anecdotes, memories and stories is endless. His many awards include a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, four GRAMMYs, four Latin GRAMMYs, The Billboard award for Musical Legacy and 13 Lo Nuestro Awards. Aguilar began his career at age three and has been traveling throughout Latin America singing alongside his parents Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre ever since. Beyond his success as a singer, Aguilar is a musician in every sense of the word. He has repeatedly made his love for all genres of music public, from rock to electronica – by working as a songwriter and/or producer with famous Latin artists such as Julieta Venegas, Lupita D’ Alessio and Ely Guerra. For television, he has composed the themes for the OYE Awards as well as the theme for the Mexican Telethon. With his latest album, “Lástima Que Sean Ajenas,” Aguilar again proves his value as an artist as well as a person recognizing other singers he admires, in this case, paying tribute to Don Vicente Fernández.
