On the eve of their record release, the GRAMMY Museum is proud to welcome Mindi Abair to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on her distinguished career and the forthcoming album with The Boneshakers. Hosted by GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Scott Goldman, the evening will also include a live performance from Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers, featuring songs off their new album. Since her debut album in 2000, two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated artist Mindi Abair has established herself as one of the most talented and in-demand saxophone players of her time. In addition to her undeniable sax skills, Abair’s live shows are electric and have captivated audiences around the globe. Her dynamic performances also attracted the attention of producers of the popular reality show “American Idol”, resulting in a two-season stint as their featured saxophonist and leading to a tour with multi-GRAMMY Award-winning rock band Aerosmith. During her career, Abair has released seven solo albums, garnering 10 No.1 radio songs, two No.1 spots on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album chart, and six Top 5 solo records. Her versatility and prowess have led to collaborations with a wide array of artists, including Trombone Shorty, Joe Perry, Max Weinberg, and even the late Gregg Allman, who all joined her on Wild Heart. Released in 2014, the rock and soul album secured her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. To help translate that edgier sound to her live shows, she enlisted longtime pal and The Boneshakers founder Randy Jacobs (Was Not Was, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson). This led to them joining creative forces in 2015 and releasing Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers: LIVE In Seattle. After nearly two years of non-stop touring, Abair and the band went to the famed EastWest Studios to record their first studio album. Set for release on Sept. 15, The EastWestSessions is a compilation of gritty blues and rock tracks that showcases the talents of each band member.
