A Conversation & Special PerformanceComposer/Arranger/Pianist and GRAMMY-winner Billy Childs and fellow GRAMMY-winning producer Larry Klein have brought together an extraordinary group of artists to celebrate the songs of Laura Nyro on the brand new album, Map To The Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro.   The already critically-praised album was released September 9th on Sony Masterworks with The Wall Street Journal calling it ‘a loving and powerful tribute’ and The Daily News calling it ‘a full story in song, fulfilling the album’s title mission – to create a true re-imagining’ . Not in any way a typical ‘tribute album’, Map To The Treasure presents Laura Nyro’s music as a fully-orchestrated, conceptual suite of songs whose lead voices are expertly cast via Childs’ & Klein’s exceptional collaborative musical vision.  That incredible ‘cast’ includes Renee Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, Esperanza Spalding, Wayne Shorter, Shawn Colvin, Chris Botti, Lisa Fischer, Rickie Lee Jones, Alison Krauss, Ledisi, Dianne Reeves, Becca Stevens & Susan Tedeschi.   On September 30th, Billy Childs and Larry Klein will welcome three of the album’s featured guest vocalists – Shawn Colvin, Rickie Lee Jones and Becca Stevens for an in-depth conversation about their collaboration on this unique project and the inspiration and influence of its incomparable composer, Laura Nyro.  The evening will also include an intimate performance from the artists.
