With their highly anticipated new album We’re All Gonna Die (released Sept. 16 on the band’s own HUB Records), Los Angeles-based group Dawes earned the praises of NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Paste, American Songwriter, and more. The album debuted at No. 18 on the Top Current Album charts and No. 1 on overall vinyl sales in the country. The band recently performed three songs from their new album on “CBS This Morning: Saturday,” honoring them as “one of the most respected live bands around in their decade-long journey.” We’re All Gonna Die was recorded at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles and The Boat in Silverlake, and was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes). The record features 10 original tracks and includes backing vocals from Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius, among others. Of the album, Taylor Goldsmith (guitar/vocals) explains, “Pretty much every song on this record explores a difficult situation and tries to find a way to find the good in it, or at least remind yourself that it’s not always that big of a deal. After all, as scary as it is, we are all gonna die.” Dawes consists of Goldsmith, Wylie Gelber (bass), Griffin Goldsmith (drums, vocals, percussion) and Lee Pardini (keyboards, vocals). Following their recent tours with My Morning Jacket, Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons, Conor Oberst and Jackson Browne, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes Dawes to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on their latest album and rising career, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares. The conversation will be followed by a special performance. For more information on Dawes, check out dawestheband.com.
