In conjunction with the opening of its latest exhibit, Ella At 100: Celebrating The Artistry Of Ella Fitzgerald, the GRAMMY Museum is pleased to present a special evening exploring the career and legacy of 13-time GRAMMY-winning jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. The evening will include performances by a jazz band led by a former member of the GRAMMY Camp — Jazz Session program, Katie Thiroux. Evan Abounassar and Jordan Riefkin are additional Jazz Session alums performing with the band. Special guest and GRAMMY-winning vocalist Patti Austin will also perform. Hailing from New York, Austin has earned acclaim for her interpretations of some of Fitzgerald’s most beloved songs. Austin is celebrating an incredible sixth decade in the music industry with the release of (working title) Ellatunes, her second recorded tribute to the legendary artist following her 2002 GRAMMY-nominated best-selling album, For Ella. The special program will also include a panel discussion featuring Austin and writer/radio host Geoffrey Mark, who authored the bestselling First Lady of Song: Ella Fitzgerald for the Record, moderated by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation. Prior to the program, guests will have the opportunity to tour the Museum’s new Ella Fitzgerald exhibit after Museum hours from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
