Celebrating The Music of Wildwood With The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy

A DISCUSSION & PERFORMANCE BY THE DECEMBERISTS’ COLIN MELOY

The Grammy Museum is thrilled to celebrate the music of LAIKA’s Wildwood and welcome The Decemberists’ frontman and author of the Wildwood novel Colin Meloy to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater. The evening will feature a special conversation exploring the creative process behind the film’s music, a video introduction from the film’s Academy Award®-winning composer Dario Marianelli and a special acoustic performance from Colin. Meloy and The Decemberists contributed original music to the film, including the film’s end-credits song, “The Better Part of Bravery.”

Wildwood is LAIKA’s newest stop-motion feature and its most ambitious film to date. Based on the best-selling fantasy novel by Colin Meloy with illustrations by Carson Ellis, the film is directed by Travis Knight and features a voice cast that includes Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Richard E. Grant, Awkwafina, Amandla Stenberg, Jake Johnson, Tom Waits and Charlie Day. The story follows Prue McKeel as she journeys into the mysterious Impassable Wilderness to rescue her infant brother, discovering a hidden world filled with magic, danger and unforgettable characters along the way.

For more than two decades, Colin Meloy has been the frontman and songwriter of The Decemberists, whose literate, richly imagined songs have made the band one of the most distinctive voices in American indie rock. Alongside his music career, Meloy is also an accomplished author of several novels, including the acclaimed Wildwood series, bringing together the storytelling traditions that have long defined both his songwriting and his fiction.

• Vinyl, memorabilia, gifts, etc. will NOT be allowed inside the building. 
• Cameras (including digital and point and shoot cameras), video cameras, and any other professional photography & videography equipment will NOT be permitted for this event. 
• NO re-entry from the Grammy Museum premises.
• Valid physical ID is necessary for check-in. 
• Tickets are non-transferrable. 
• Reselling tickets is strictly prohibited.

The holder of this ticket is granted admission to the indicated facility for the purpose of viewing the specified event. This ticket is for use by the holder only and the holder is bound by this policy. If this ticket is sold, otherwise conveyed or used in violation of this policy, it will be deemed revoked and void, and its holder deemed a trespasser at all Recording Academy events. This ticket is a revocable license and admission may be refused by refunding the face amount of the ticket or ejection may occur for failure to comply with any facility rule. The holder agrees not to transmit or aid in transmitting any description, picture, recording or reproduction of the event. The holder acknowledges that the event may be captured and recorded by audio, audiovisual, and/or photographic means, and hereby grants permission to utilize the holder’s image and/or voice in any and all media now known or hereafter devised to further the interests and mission of the Recording Academy.
