An Evening With Sting

A special benefit for the GRAMMY Museum The GRAMMY Museum is pleased to present an intimate evening with 16-time GRAMMY-winning artist Sting. The evening, moderated by GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli, will feature a discussion surrounding Sting’s forthcoming studio album 57th & 9th — his first rock/pop collection in over a decade — and his remarkable career as a composer, singer/songwriter, actor, author, and activist, followed by a special acoustic performance. Born in Newcastle, England, Sting formed The Police in 1977 with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, with whom he released five studio albums and earned six GRAMMYs, two Brits, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As one of the world’s most distinctive solo artists, Sting has earned an additional 10 GRAMMY Awards, two Brits, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, three Oscar nominations, a TONY nomination, and MusiCares’ 2004 Person of the Year, among other awards and accolades. Throughout his enduring career, he has sold close to 100 million albums from his combined work with The Police and as a solo artist. Sting’s 12th solo studio album, 57th & 9th, his first pop/rock project in over a decade, will be released Nov. 11 and features 10 songs that represent a wide range of Sting’s musical and songwriting styles. The album was produced by Martin Kierszenbaum and recorded with Sting’s long-time collaborators Dominic Miller (guitar) and Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), with contributions from drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N’ Roses), guitarist Lyle Workman and backing vocals by the San Antonio-based Tex-Mex band The Last Bandoleros. Sting’s support of human rights organizations such as the Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International and Live Aid mirrors his art in its universal outreach.  Along with wife Trudie Styler, Sting founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989 to protect both the world’s rainforests and the indigenous people living there. Together they have held 17 benefit concerts to raise funds and awareness for our planet’s endangered resources.
