In a career that’s spanned more than 30 years, Paul Kelly has released a steady stream of albums showcasing his emotionally vivid, musically expansive songwriting and his uncanny ability to distill a novel’s worth of narrative and character detail into an effortlessly melodic pop tune. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the greatest songwriters ever heard,” Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly is a man of varied musical talent. While he’s best known in America for such acclaimed albums as Gossip, Under the Sun, So Much Water So Close to Home, Comedy, Wanted Man and Deeper Water, Kelly’s prolific body of work incorporates a wide array of departures, collaborations and side projects. He’s recorded as a member of the studio supergroup Stardust Five and branched out stylistically to record an album with the Australian bluegrass combo Uncle Bill. Please join us as we welcome Kelly to the Museum’s Clive Davis Theater for a rare look into his fascinating career. Moderated by GRAMMY Museum’s Executive Director, Bob Santelli, Kelly will highlight his latest effort, his 19th studio album and first collection of new material in five years, Spring and Fall. After the discussion, Kelly will take questions from the audience and will perform a musical set.
