Of the legendary Bronx rocker Dion (DiMucci), Bruce Springsteen once said, “All hail Dion, the real link between Frank Sinatra and rock & roll.” Dion’s career dates back to his days as frontman for Dion & The Belmonts, who toured with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens in the late 1950s before  going solo in 1960 scoring a string of massive hits including “The Wanderer,” “Runaround Sue,” “Ruby Baby,” and, in the folk idiom, “Abraham, Martin and John.” Dion is getting ready to release his new, genre-defying album, New York Is My Home, on Feb. 12. The album was produced by Jimmy Vivino, the musical mastermind who is seen nightly leading The Basic Cable Band on “Conan.” The album features eight songs written or co-written by Dion, plus covers of Tampa Red’s “I Ain’t For It” and Lightnin’ Hopkins’ “Katie Mae,” a reflection of his life-long interest and involvement in the blues. Ahead of his first-ever South by Southwest appearance in March, the GRAMMY Museum welcomes Dion to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate discussion surrounding his new album. The conversation will be followed by a special performance from Dion and Jimmy Vivino.
