The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Brandy Clark with special guest Brandi Carlile to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for an evening including a conversation about their recent collaboration and creative process. Following the conversation, there will be a performance.
ABOUT BRANDY CLARK:
An 11x GRAMMY-nominee, CMA Award-winner and Tony-nominee, Brandy Clark is one of her generation’s most respected songwriters and musicians. In the midst of yet another landmark year, Clark released her acclaimed self-titled album, produced by 9x GRAMMY-winner Brandi Carlile, earlier this spring, which led Variety to call her “one of the great singer-songwriters of our day,” while Forbes describes the album as “an Americana Masterpiece.” Known for her powerful live shows, Clark will embark on an extensive headline tour this fall including stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles as well as a series of special co-headline dates with Lori McKenna. In addition to her work as a solo artist, Clark has also written songs like “A Beautiful Noise,” the GRAMMY-nominated duet performed by Brandi Carlile and Alicia Keys, and Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow.” She also composed the music and lyrics for the new hit musical comedy, Shucked, alongside her longtime collaborator, Shane McAnally. With the show, Clark won Outstanding Music at the 67th Drama Desk Awards, while Shucked was also nominated for a total of nine Tony Awards this past year.
ABOUT BRANDI CARLILE:
Brandi Carlile is a 9x GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, performer, producer, #1 New York Times Bestselling author and activist, who is known as one of music’s most respected voices.
Aside from the production of her own work (where she has played a major part since her self-produced, self-titled debut in 2005), Carlile has been increasingly in-demand as a record producer in recent years, helming albums by Joni Mitchell, Tanya Tucker, Brandy Clark, Lucius and The Secret Sisters.
Tanya Tucker’s 2019 album While I’m Livin’, co-produced by Carlile with Shooter Jennings, won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album (Carlile’s first production GRAMMY for work with another artist).
2023 has seen her production talents excel with albums and singles by Tanya Tucker, Brandy Clark and the highly anticipated live record of Joni Mitchell from last year’s Newport Folk Festival.
Earlier this year, she recorded and self-produced a cover of “Home” for the last season of Ted Lasso as well as “Closer To Fine” with wife Catherine Carlile for Barbie The Album (Best Weekend Ever Edition).
Widely beloved by her peers, Carlile has collaborated closely with Joni Mitchell, Elton John, The Highwomen, Soundgarden, Alicia Keys, Marcus Mumford, Dolly Parton and more. When not on the road, she spends time in her home studio in rural Washington state where she and Catherine raise their two daughters, Evangeline and Elijah.
