In a career spanning six decades, over thirty albums and multiple genres, GRAMMY-winning artist B.J. Thomas has enjoyed sharing his talents with audiences all over the globe.  Early in his career, B.J. found success with Scepter Records, where the roster also included The Shirelles and Dionne Warwick.  In fact, it was Warwick who introduced B.J. to songwriter-producer Burt Bacharach, leading to his performance of the Oscar-winning “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” for Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.  Many of B.J.’s signature hits — including “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” the million-selling “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” and his career-igniting cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” — invariably found the singer employing some level of optimism to overcome the universal battle with loneliness.  Continuing his supportive inclinations, a series of positive-themed discs were embraced by the gospel community, giving him the first four platinum albums in gospel history.  A brief-but-successful foray into country music emphasized classic family ideals and commitment.  His most recent albums include the acoustic releases The Living Room Sessions (2013), a re-imaging of B.J.’s classic songs as duets with Vince Gill, Keb Mo, Steve Tyrell and others, and O Holy Night (2014), a selection of traditional Christmas carols in an intimate style.  Join us as we welcome B.J. Thomas to the Clive Davis Theater for an interview moderated by Vice President of MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation, Scott Goldman.
