The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Audra McDonald of the Broadway musical Gypsy with music supervisor and conductor Andy Einhorn to The Greene Space in NYC for a conversation celebrating the 2026 GRAMMY Award-nominated Cast Recording. There will be special live performances from Audra McDonald and cast members Joy Woods, Jordan Tyson, and Kevin Csolak.

This event is part of the GRAMMY Museum’s New York City program series, which brings the Museum’s renowned education and public programs to the city. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation. 

ABOUT GYPSY

Gypsy, suggested by the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, is Broadway’s ultimate tale of mothers and daughters, ambition and fame, and the lengths we’ll go in pursuit of the American dream. The musical features a book by Tony Award winner Arthur Laurents; music by Tony and Academy Award winner Jule Styne; and lyrics by Tony, Grammy, Academy Award, and Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Sondheim; choreography by four-time Tony Award nominated Camille A. Brown; music supervision, music direction, and additional orchestrations & arrangements by Andy Einhorn; and additional orchestrations and arrangements by Tony Award winner Daryl Waters.

Gypsy, directed by six-time Tony Award-winning director George C. Warner Music Group’s ARTS MUSIC and OCTOVERSE MEDIA are proud to announce that Gypsy: 2024 Broadway Cast Recording – starring six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald – has received a 2026 GRAMMY Award nomination for “Best Musical Theater Album.” Nominations go to principal vocalists Danny Burstein, Kevin Csolak, Audra McDonald, Jordan Tyson, and Joy Woods. The producing team for the Grammy-nominated recording includes David Caddick, Andy Einhorn, David Lai, Mara Isaacs, Tom Kirdahy, and George C. Wolfe. This marks the first GRAMMY nomination for Octoverse Media, for the label’s first album release.

Gypsy set a GRAMMY record becoming the first show to spawn five nominated albums in this category. (The album from the original production starring Ethel Merman won in 1960, a revival starring Tyne Daly was nominated in 1991, a revival starring Bernadette Peters won in 2004, and a revival starring Patti LuPone was nominated in 2009.) Right now, Gypsy is tied with West Side Story, Into the Woods, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street with four nominated albums each.
