A Conversation With Stevie Van Zandt

Guitarist Stevie Van Zandt has enjoyed a lengthy and prosperous career. He is a longtime member of Bruce Springsteen’s famous E Street Band, who earned induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, and had played alongside fellow New Jersey native Springsteen before joining the band in early 1975. Van Zandt performed on many of Springsteen’s most successful albums, including 1980’s No. 1 hit Born in the U.S.A., which he co-produced. In addition to an ongoing touring schedule with the E Street Band and his involvement with numerous other projects, including his solo career, Van Zandt recently founded the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing cuts to art funding in middle and high schools around the country. Prior to that, in 1985 he organized Artists United Against Apartheid, recording the all-star hit single “Sun City,” which rose awareness about apartheid in South Africa. Van Zandt has also had a successful acting career, starring as Silvio Dante in the popular HBO series The Sopranos, and as Frank “The Fixer” Tagliano in Netflix’s Lilyhammer.  Van Zandt was recently announced as the co-host for the GRAMMY Museum’s second annual Architects of Sound gala honoring Frank Sinatra on Oct. 21, 2015.  The GRAMMY Museum welcomes Steven Van Zandt to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate discussion surrounding his illustrious career, moderated by Bob Santelli, Executive Director of the GRAMMY Museum.
