A Conversation with Kevin Lyman

Featuring Special Performances from senses, Sammy Adams & Hoobastank

Moderated by Nate Jackson

The Grammy Museum is thrilled to celebrate Kevin Lyman and the Vans Warped Tour with a moderated conversation by LA Times’s Nate Jackson about his process and career. There will also be acoustic performances from senses, Sammy Adams, and Hoobastank in the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater.

ABOUT SENSES

senses is a Los Angeles-based self-identifying “emo-friendly, punk-curious” band known for their explosive energy and soul-baring truth. Their music channels pain and frustration into catchy anthems that resonate with fans and has catapulted them into a packed first headline tour and multiple tours as support with artists like Charlotte Sands, The Summer Set (UK & US), Yours Truly (AUS), Carlie Hanson, Leah Kate, Bailey Spinn, and Boys Like Girls. Recently signed to Hopeless Records in 2024, the band, led by Madison Taylor (vocals/guitar) and Nick Sampson (drums), has seen their fanbase grow rapidly, thanks in part to their emotionally charged live shows and viral live videos.

Formed in 2019 after Taylor and Sampson connected via Craigslist, senses quickly made a name for themselves with their raw and unruly sound. Despite any setbacks, they continued to create, leading to their breakthrough debut EP, “take me out of here” (2023). The EP, produced by Keith Varon, features hard-hitting singles like “sleepwalking”, “gonna make sure” and “novocain”, and earned the band radio play and spots on major editorial playlists. In March 2025, the band released their celebrated second EP, “i’m still breathing”, with crowd favorites including “diamonds on your dagger”, “every little thing” and “nosebleeds.” Keeping their feet on the gas, the band recently released their third EP onto something in October 2025, which includes pop-rock anthems “onto something”, “tiptoeing”, and “skin”.

Through their music and a history of electrifying live performances, senses have built a close-knit community with their fans. The band is now working on new music, driven by their passion for creating an inclusive space where everyone can connect and find solace in their songs.

ABOUT SAMMY ADAMS

Sammy Adams is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. He burst onto the scene in 2010 with his independent debut EP “Boston’s Boy” which reached #1 on iTunes Hip-Hop and #73 on the Billboard 200 without marketing support. His early success led to opening for artists like Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Deadmau5, J. Cole, Pretty Lights, Tiesto and recently performing alongside Quinn XCII, in Central Park’s Summer

Stage (NY). After staying independent, he sold out two domestic tours and played hundreds of colleges.

In 2011, Adams signed Sony RCA and shockingly sold out NYC’s iconic Roseland Ballroom, selling 7,000 tickets with no co-headliners or openers. Since then he has garnered 691 million streams across all platforms, collaborated with artists like Pharrell Williams, R3hab, Enrique Iglesias, B.O.B, and Mike Posner. His breakout single “All

Night Longer” sold over 1 million physical and digital units before steaming platforms emerged.

In 2019, Sammy survived a nearly-fatal accident, sustaining a broken neck and two brain hemorrhages, leading to life saving emergency surgery. After extensive rehabilitation, he since has fully recovered and is the most recent artist to sign to Big Noise Music Group. Adams upcoming release is underway and will be executive produced by

John Feldmann.

ABOUT HOOBASTANK

A single embedded into pop culture history, Hoobastank’s “The Reason” recently entered into the elite Billions Club on Spotify as the song surpasses 1 Billion streams, currently at 1.48 billion. With just over 600 songs to surpass this milestone, Hoobastank is one of the latest to be added into the illustrious playlist alongside music legends: AC/DC, The Beatles, Whitney Houston, Elton John and more.

In December 2023, Hoobastank celebrated 20 years since the release of their sophomore album The Reason. The album took the band to even greater heights following the success of their 2001 debut Hoobastank, which featured hit singles “Crawling In The Dark,” “Running Away,” and “Remember Me,” all of which have since been certified RIAA platinum. The Reason featured the massively successful single of the same name “The Reason,” which helped solidify the band as a household name.

Despite “The Reason” turning 20 last year, the song continues to connect with early supporters as well as a whole new generation of fans two decades later. In addition to the Spotify milestone, the band celebrated as the official music video for the song surpassed 1 Billion views on YouTube, elevating the band into the exclusive billions club among some other great artists.

Hoobastank has had a resurgence back into the mainstream through TikTok and hit TV shows. The viral success of the #NotAPerfectPerson trend on TikTok brought new attention to the hit single, garnering user generated content of biggest fails. When Netflix’s hit show Beef gained major popularity in 2023, the show featured Hoobastank’s “The Reason,” which resulted in the song re-entering the iTunes Rock charts and appearing on Shazam’s US Top 200, the most Shazamed tracks in the United States. The single/band was also recently featured in hit shows Building The Band (Netflix), The Boys (Amazon), and We Are Lady Parts (Peacock). Because of this mainstream attention and a newer generation of music fans finding the catalog of the band, they are clocking in at over 13 million monthly listeners.
