The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to celebrate the music behind Moana 2 in the museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater with a discussion with GRAMMY Award-winning artists Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear about the creative process behind the soundtrack and a live performance.
After the explosive success (60M+ likes & 250M+ views on TikTok) of their ultra-viral The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical Album, which earned the #1 spot on the U.S. iTunes pop charts, won the 2022 GRAMMY Award for the Best Musical Theater Album, received acclaim from NPR, Variety, and PAPER, and landed Barlow & Bear on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, the musical duo is back in the studio to co-write the soundtrack for Disney’s highly anticipated sequel Moana 2, coming November 27th. This incredible accomplishment has made them the youngest female duo to write a full soundtrack for a Disney Animation feature.
At just 23 years old, Emily Bear is a GRAMMY and EMMY award-winning composer, producer, arranger, pianist, and singer-songwriter. While she was still single digits, Emily performed on the world’s most legendary stages including Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, the White House, and first appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at the age of 6. When she was 9 years old, her mentor Quincy Jones produced her chart-topping original jazz album, Diversity. Last year, Emily scored the soundtrack for the film Dog Gone, starring Rob Lowe, which became the No. 1 film for Netflix worldwide and also toured with Beyoncé on the Renaissance World Tour as her pianist. Emily is a founding member of the Recording Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing and she has raised millions of dollars for charities through events and performances. Emily has multiple musical projects in the works across theater, film & TV in addition to her own solo album.
25-year-old Abigail Barlow is a GRAMMY Award winning singer, songwriter, and artist who is taking the pop world by storm with not only her own hits, but through her songwriting collaborations with pop heavy hitters including Meghan Trainor, GAYLE, Ryan Linvill, Zolita, Jonas Jeberg, and many more. A founding TikTok creator, Abigail has since grown her platform to over 2.3M followers, writing and performing her own original music in real time for her growing fanbase. She was honored by The Songwriters Hall of Fame for her work on The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical Album and is a sought-after pop songwriter for many major label artists. which speaks to her craft of artful lyricism and unique melodies. As both an artist and songwriter, Abigail blends her musical theater storytelling, clever lyricism, and killer hook sensibility to craft songs across genres that are brought together by her singular vision. She is a passionate advocate for songwriters’ equity in the music industry and is a proud independent artist.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical “Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.
