On View - Oct 09, 2014 - Oct 09, 2014

Ten years ago, Ray LaMontagne released his first album, Trouble, the gold-certified start to a fiercely ambitious, GRAMMY Award-winning, critically-praised career that’s encompassed three more albums, several EPs, a slew of soundtrack compilations and arresting live performances fronting a variety of ensembles. LaMontagne’s 2010 acclaimed album, God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Digital Album chart. This marked a personal sales best for LaMontagne and tied his debut chart position at #3 with Gossip in the Grain.  God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise garnered three GRAMMY Award nominations including the coveted Song of The Year category for “Beg Steal or Borrow” and won the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Folk Album.  Additionally, “Beg Steal or Borrow became Ray’s first radio #1.  More recently, LaMontagne debuted, “Supernova” in February 2014, the first single off his fifth studio album of the same name. The album, produced by produced by Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) and recorded in Nashville, TN, bursts with a spirited bonhomme and a rocking, technicolor-tinged energy that’s different from its four predecessors. Join us for a special discussion about the latest record, as well as LaMontagne’s career as a whole, in the Clive Davis Theater.  Moderating the event will be Don Was, President of Blue Note Records.
