Julia Castro is a 17-year-old Brazilian singer-songwriter whose music lives in the quiet space between confession and disappearance. Now based in California, completing her senior year at Idyllwild Arts Academy, she blends intimate Pop/R&B with dreamy textures, soft vocals, and the nostalgic warmth of Bossa Nova. Her writing explores emotional ghosting, self-erasure, the ache of growing up, and the quiet weight of things left unsaid. She began singing at six and gave her first public performance at nine, singing in her church for an audience of more than a thousand people. From that moment forward, she performed at small festivals, local events, and any stage she could find. Introduced to 60s music by her father, Julia grew up listening to soul and jazz icons — Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Amy Winehouse — artists whose emotional honesty became the foundation of her own connection to music. At thirteen, Julia brought jazz to national television with her performance of “At Last” by Etta James on The Voice Brazil. All judges turned their chairs, and her coach, Michel Teló, praised her intensity, precision, and strength, saying that “It is incredible how much she transforms when the music starts,” and describing her as “a potential winner — a phenomenon.” In an interview with GSHOW, Julia stated: “What I love the most about singing is that I can take a feeling and express it in my own way.” Her run on the show introduced her to a wider Brazilian audience and marked her first major step into the national music scene. Julia will release her debut single, “You and I” in 2026 — the first chapter of her upcoming EP, If Silence Could Speak, What Would It Say? — officially marking the beginning of her music career.
