Share

This week, we are shining the spotlight on our Vice President, Education for GRAMMY in the Schools, David, to learn more about who he is and what he is listening to!

What are your favorite genres of music?

They change but some that are always on the list are Blue Grass, R&B from the 60s and 70s, Classical (particularly Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic) and Negro Spirituals.

Do you play an instrument, if so, what and for how long?

I played professionally Trombone (since the age of 11), Keyboards (began in college), Classical Percussion (began in college). As a music educator I was required to “get around” on all of the instruments of the orchestra (except the harp).

What appeals to you about music?

It has NEVER made me unhappy and it brought me to the love of my life.

First Concert You Attended?

It was a grand opera performance (complete with elephants) at the Shrine auditorium OR a concert of the L.A. Philharmonic In Philharmonic Auditorium when I was in elementary school.
