The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome the creators creatives and talent behind Cobra Kai to the Museum’s intimate 200-seat Clive Davis Theater for an evening including a panel discussing moderated by Richard Bienstock with writers/producers/directors creators/executive producers/directors Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson, and actor/executive producer Ralph Macchio about their creative process.
ABOUT JOSH HEALD, JON HURWITZ, & HAYDEN SCHLOSSBERG
Counterbalance Entertainment, led by writers/producers/directors Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, produces the Netflix global phenomenon Cobra Kai, which reimagined iconic The Karate Kid for a new generation. In February, the Emmy Award-nominated and award-winning series debuted its last batch of episodes for its sixth and final season to rave reviews and is certified fresh. They previously wrote, directed and produced the Netflix action-comedy series Obliterated, which debuted at #1 on the platform. The Las Vegas-set series was a return to the “Hard R” comedy roots of the trio, as Heald previously penned the Hot Tub Time Machine franchise for MGM, and Hurwitz and Schlossberg were behind New Line’s popular Harold & Kumar film franchise, as well as hit comedies Blockers and American Reunion. The trio, along with development head Dina Hillier, currently have a number of additional projects in development with streamers and studios.
ABOUT LEO BIRENBERG & ZACH ROBINSON
Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson are Los Angeles-based composers and frequent collaborators known for elevating countless projects across television and film. They recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special with Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The two are most known for composing the score to the mega-hit Netflix series Cobra Kai, the sequel series to the classic Karate Kid film franchise featuring the returning stars Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, and Martin Kove. In addition, Robinson and Birenberg have also composed the music for the Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin spinoff series, Florida Man, Obliterated, Twisted Metal, and most recently, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Zach received his degree in music composition from Northwestern University, and Leo studied composition at NYU and USC. The duo also have success with their own individual scoring projects: Zach currently scores the hit CBS series “Matlock” starring Kathy Bates, as well as the breakout Netflix documentary series “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.”Leo most recently scored the acclaimed comedy “Bottoms” as well as a slew of successful television series, including “Pen15,” “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory,” and “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.”

ABOUT RALPH MACCHIO
With an extensive list of film credits, acclaimed actor, director, producer, and New York Times bestselling author, Ralph Macchio is best known for his celebrated performance as “Johnny” in Frances Ford Coppola’s THE OUTSIDERS; the hit film MY COUSIN VINNY, costarring along with Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei; and most notably for the title role in the popular classic, THE KARATE KID and its successors THE KARATE KID PART II and THE KARATE KID PART III.

ABOUT RICHARD BIENSTOCK
Richard Bienstock is the New York Times bestselling co-author of Nöthin' But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the ‘80s Hard Rock Explosion. A former senior editor at Guitar World and executive editor at Guitar Aficionado, his writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Billboard, Spin, and other publications. He has authored and co-authored numerous books, including Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the companion to the documentary of the same name. In 2024, Nöthin’ But a Good Time was adapted into a three-part docuseries on Paramount+, which Bienstock co-executive produced and appeared in. His latest book, Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival, was published in 2025.
