A New York Evening With John C. Reilly

The GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Tony and Academy Award-nominated artist John C. Reilly to National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY to celebrate his upcoming album, What’s Not To Love?, with a discussion about his creative process and a special live performance accompanied by GRAMMY Award-winning musician and co-producer of What’s Not To Love? Davíd Garza (Fiona Apple, Sharon Van Etten).

John C. Reilly is one of the many artists to be featured in the GRAMMY Museum’s New York City program series, which includes bringing a slate of the GRAMMY Museum’s renowned GRAMMY In The Schools Education Programs and Public Programs to the East Coast. “A New York Evening With…” is generously supported by the Dawn and Brian Hoesterey Family Foundation.

ABOUT JOHN C. REILLY

John C. Reilly’s most personal and highly anticipated project in 2025 will be Mister Romantic, an intimate vaudeville show that has already garnered critical acclaim and captured the public’s imagination. Described by Vanity Fair as “fiercely funny” and hailed by Theaterly as one of the best performances of 2024 following a one-night show in New York, “Mister Romantic” marks a new chapter in Reilly’s career.

“I looked at our weary world a few years ago and tried to think of a way I could spread love and empathy. I decided the most fun way to do that was through performing and singing and telling people I loved them. So the emotional vaudeville show Mister Romantic was born, out of both hope and despair. What’s Not To Love? Is a collection of songs from the show with some cinematic audio weaved in. They tell the story of an eternal optimist, Mister Romantic, as he looks for love. Each song moved me enough to want to share it with people and keep each one alive by passing it on like some of my favorite singers did in their time. The lyrics all have something deeply true about them. Someone once said “It’s better to light one tiny candle than to curse the darkness.” Well, this is our little candle in the darkness. We hope it reminds people that it’s good to love. I figured it was worth a try.” John C. Reilly

After debuting his musical vaudeville show Mister Romantic in 2022 and performing sold-out concerts across the country over the past two years, John C. Reilly is set to release his debut Mister Romantic album, What’s Not To Love? on June 13 – the first release on Reilly’s own Eternal Magic Recordings. The release of “What’ll I Do?” follows lead single “Dream,” which found Reilly delivering a gentle, dreamy sea-side cover of the 1944 Johnny Mercer song previously recorded by Frank Sinatra and Roy Orbison.

What’s Not To Love? is a collection of gorgeous renditions of songs from the Great American Songbook backed by a band of multiple GRAMMY®-winners. Upcoming performances include the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, TN, just outside Nashville, a sold out June residency at Café Carlyle in New York City, Father’s Day at Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works, which will mark Mister Romantic‘s biggest headline show to date.
